How to navigate this site? When I know, I will tell you.
The links page has all of my links that I store on Delicious. It is updated almost daily.
I will add a Flickr page for photos. I will attempt to keep the tagging consistent so what you see on one site is reflected on the other.
La Cocina- An assortment of my personal recipes or thoughts on food. The primary focus is creole cuisine. I define creole broadly so this will include New Orleans, the Spanish speaking Caribbean and some Mexican and South American stuff. I also seem to consume and prepare a lot of Mediterranean food, but considering the European origins of the above cuisines, that makes sense.
I have, as I typed this, decided that en la cocina there is more than food, it is also where I make beauty stuff and home remedies. So anything that involves concoctions goes in the cocina.
In fact! I shall rename all the categories and arrange this by room! If you were to come visit me, where would I be when I do the listed activities?
La Sala-
La Critica-A few reviews but mostly my personal analyses and critiques of books and music. I attempt to review, but usually get caught up contemplating some facet or another of the piece that has little to do with the actual plot or music. I tend to veer off into musings on the creator of the piece and his or her intentions and WHY he or she did what was done. i will try to do actual normal reviews though.
La Filosofia- Politics, racism, sexism, environmentalism, urbanism- if it ends in -ism, I am sticking it here. I like to talk about religion, atheism, linguistics, capitalism and all sorts of stuff that no one I know really cares about. But if I were to talk about it, it would be in my salon.
La Galeria- This new organizational scheme does make things easier. I love the arts- decorating, fashion, sculpture etc.. This will be a sort of gallery of all my perfume acquisitions, decorating, clothing, art I see and covet and photos I have taken. In a sense, it reflects my actual sala which is full of beautiful flamenco art, antique china, glassware and some lovely silk fabric.
(My 13 year old told me yesterday that she was going to school to be a fashion designer, does she know that I wanted to do the same when I was a teen? Or that I had just mentally justified my love of pretty things and clothing despite hating consumerism, by saying that shoes are wearable sculptures and clothing art and I am not mindlessly consuming but supporting art and creativity?
)
La Calle- Salsa, merengue, reggaeton, bachata -the music AND the dance. This has its own category because it wont fit in the criticism section. Crap, “la musica” it isnt a room, huh? There goes THAT naming scheme.WAIT, I fixed it! Fuck that, this isnt chamber music. “La camara de…” doesnt work. And I cant separate music from culture. Where would we be doing this? With a feminine ending….
Duh!
This is broken down by genre. The tags will indicate which posts are reviews, which have mp3s (for furthering the study of the arts, of course) and which are just blah blah blah.
